Christmas carols are awesome.

"Long lay the world in sin and error pining, 'til He appeared and the soul felt its worth."

That's amazing. Merry Christmas.

I heard this great sermon today about what to do when your Christmas (or life) expectations don't meet your reality. It resonated with me a lot. My dream for Christmas would be to spend it with a family who is together and happy and loves each other...and maybe with a special someone. My reality? I'm going to be visiting my parents in two separate houses for the first time in the middle of a messy divorce...and I'm still single and more than a little bit lonely.

But you know what else is real? Jesus came to earth, took on flesh, experienced grief and suffering...and died as an atonement for my sins. And God is with me when life is hard. I might feel alone but I am not alone at all.

"Let nothing you dismay. Remember Christ our Saviour was born on Christmas day to save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy!"

allison,
I did not know your parents were getting divorced. I am so sorry, and I will be thinking of you.
